I’m not as gifted in the makeup department as some, so these hacks are great for pulling off those rough all-nighters. When you want to hide tired, puffy eyes with little time to spare, try these clever tips. It will be our little secret. As a tip – you might want to give these makeup hacks a try at home when you have time to play around to see which methods work the best for you. Not every tip will work with everyone so find what you feel works best for you.

Hiding Dark Circles under-eye-makeup

The biggest giveaway to a restless night of no sleep, aside from the obvious signs of yawning, are those dark circles under the eyes. Here are just a few different tricks you can try to mask  them so you don’t have to go around looking like a raccoon.

Reach for the lipstick first – This might sound a little odd, but applying a thin coat of red lipstick under those dark circles first, then applying concealer on over it will help to diminish dark circles better and much quicker than trying to blend in your concealer to mask them.

Try Light Eyeliner  – instead of using your go-to dark eyeliner, opt for a white or a light colored liner to the bottom lid. This quick trick will make your eyes ‘pop’ and reduce the appearance of dark circles, especially if you’re in a rush and don’t have time to apply and blend in concealer.

Treat dark circles  – eye creams that diminish the appearance of dark circles and fine lines can get expensive. A cheaper and natural alternative is applying a small amount of almond oil to the dark circles around your eyes at night. A tip when it comes to applying – with almond oil or eye cream, do not rub it directly to your crows’ feet. Massage gently around the eyes and the upper eye lid, because it will travel up to an inch over night, getting into your eyes and cause puffiness.

You might be able to hide the fact that you spent half the night trying to get your little night owl to sleep, but you would probably prefer having actually had a good night’s sleep to get through the day. If bedtime is a frequent struggle, check out our guide on sleeping tips.

Contouring Tips

Are you unsure about how to properly contour? You’re not alone. I’ve wanted to try this for some time, but I simply don’t have the time to apply and blend in ten different things on my face. There are so many insane videos out there showing different ways to contour, but they all look very intimidating for someone that has never attempted it. Here are some easy tips for achieving a perfectly polished look.

Use Bronzer – there are a lot of steps and a lot of different products I often see when it comes to contouring. If you simply don’t have the time and opting to skip it altogether, here’s a better approach. Use a bronzer to apply over the temples, the sides of your face, and just below the cheekbones. This will create those ‘shadows’ that help define and enhance the natural curves of your face achieved from contouring.

Tinted Moisturizers – A good tinted moisturizer that blends well to your natural skin tone will give you the look of color you want in addition to coverage so you can skip the foundation and face powder. Use a concealer to cover dark under-eye circles and blemishes and blend in then apply the tinted moisturizer to your whole face. As an added benefit, using a moisturizing routine whether at night or in the morning will help fight the signs of aging.

Get two out of one products – Another time (and money) saver on your morning routine is going for products that serve multiple purpose. Choose a nude pink lip and cheek stick that is one shade brighter than your natural lip color to highlight your cheekbones and your lips for a complete look.

These tips will help you pull off a look that ties well together for a complete and fresh look without having to spend too much time in the bathroom. If you have tips of your own feel free to share them.
