Finding out you’re pregnant is usually an exciting event. One that you want to share with everyone. Announcing to friends and family that you’re expecting can be a joyous time, especially when you do so in a fun and creative way. Whether it’s your first pregnancy or your third, here are some neat ideas to announce your pregnancy!
Bun in the Oven – This is a popular idea I’ve seen across the Internet when searching for ideas to announce my pregnancy. You simply place a bun in the oven. Ask the intended person you’re wanting to announce the news to open the oven and check on what’s cooking. Get ready to snapshot their reaction when they catch on!
Say it with a shirt – This is an especially neat idea to do close to christmas time. Pick up T-Shirts that say “I’m going to be a ” with the name of the corresponding relation such as “I’m Going to be a Grandma, -Grandpa, -Aunt, -Uncle,” etc. Wrap it up as a gift for them to open. This is also a great way to announce to your current child that they’re going to be a big brother or a big sister. If you have long distance relatives and friends you can take a picture of your child wearing the shirt and share the photo with them.
Capture the news – If you have a camera with a timer, prepare a set up for you and your partner to take a sequence of pictures. The first picture would be your standard pose. For the next picture announce the news to your partner to capture his reaction, and in the third picture you each hold up a sign announcing “Coming Soon . . . (Your due date) Baby (last name, or baby #2, #3, etc).
Sonogram – Another cute card idea to tell your parents and relatives is to have a picture of your sonogram confirming your pregnancy and placing it inside a card. On the front you can write something unique or creative such as “Special Announcement enclosed inside” or in our case, “Oops!”.
Prego – Ok, you may need some parmesan to go with this cheesy announcement idea, but here’s another cute idea (if the term ‘preggo’ doesn’t bother you)! Take a picture of you and your partner with one holding up a sign that reads ‘We Are’ while the other holds up a jar of Prego spaghetti sauce.
Shoes – Take a pair of each family member’s shoes and line up side by side accordingly and add a pair of baby shoes or booties at the end. So if it’s your first, it would be your partner’s, yours and baby’s, or if you have children already then line theirs up too between yours and the baby’s shoes. Or, rather than doing just shoes, you can have a photo taken of just your feet (while wearing shoes) standing side by side each other and the baby shoes at the end. Add a cute caption such as “Arriving in (month of your due date)” or “Our family is expanding by two feet”.
Chalk Board – I can think of a dozen pregnancy announcement ideas with a chalk board. Here’s a neat one for you and your partner. Each of you hold up a chalk board. Have his saying ‘Coming Soon’ and yours with your due date and an arrow pointing down (holding the chalk board about chest level so your arrow is pointing towards your belly).
A Pea in the Pod – Create a card with a picture of a pea pod with the caption ‘A Pea in the Pod’ and on the inside of the card write, ‘Ready by (due date). This would also be a really neat idea if you were to announce twins or multiples. Just change it to two peas (or 3) in a pod.
Baby Books – A cute idea for first time parents is for you and your partner to hold a baby book like ‘What to Expect When You’re Expecting‘. For announcing a second or third pregnancy, do this with your child reading a book about siblings or you can even wrap any book with a book cover and write the title as ‘So You’re Going to Be a Big Brother/Sister”. This was the idea I had to announce our third pregnancy.
Baby on Board
– This is not only a neat way to announce you’re pregnant, but also useful. Get one of those ‘Baby on Board‘ signs you put in your car and hold it over your belly. Once your baby is born you can still use the sign!
